On the Playa

10/2006

(Note: "7:30, between Chance and Destiny" is an address on the playa, not a time)

It's 7:30, somewhere bright 'tween Chance and Destiny

I'm feeling dirty, not half-hungover like I'm supposed to be

Well this old dust gets through my skin but I don't mind

It's just there's something I was hoping I would find

Between midnight and the morning

Under the millions on the Playa

Dot down at Daisy's, dishes out coffee cake and clarity

Might try to save me, if there were some place she'd half rather be

She tells me "Noone leaves their tracks in this old town"

But she don't let on that the moonlight brings her down

As she steps out after midnight

Among the millions on the Playa

You say you've got to get away

From this and them

Catch a southbound dandelion seed

Sail on the wind

And when you finally come to ground

How will it end?

Dust off and take a look around

Build it again

It's 7:30 - sunrise comes on like a movie star

I'm feeling thirsty, but it don't hurt if you know where you are

And I'm sitting with my back to face the dawn

And there's no way I won't be here to carry on

After morning turns to midnight

Under the millions on the playa
